Remembering Daniel

Daniel was known for his contagious smile and joyful spirit. Known as "Mr. Smiley" by his karate instructor, he radiated happiness, whether leading his basketball team as captain or spending time with friends. Popular among his peers and adored by younger kids, Daniel was a fun-loving, thoughtful, and spirited presence in everyone’s life. At just 11, Daniel was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in his right fibula. Over the next two years, he endured intense treatments — 15 surgeries, 20 rounds of chemotherapy, a grueling clinical trial, and numerous hospital stays. Through it all, he kept smiling, demonstrating bravery that deeply touched everyone around him. Sadly, despite his strength, Daniel passed away on August 28, 2016, at the age of 13. His legacy motivates us to tirelessly seek advancements in treatment and to "Look for the Light" in the face of this challenging disease.
